My name is Tuniram Pegu. I am 21 years old and belong to Lohit, Arunachal Pradesh. I work as a ‘Plumber Helper’ and earn an income of Rs. 15,000 per month.
I started to work at an early age as ‘Plumber Helper’ by doing less qualified work like assisting main plumbers and pipefitters with repairing and maintaining pipes , helping to measure and cut new pipes, drill holes and assist with pipe removal.
Recently I got to know about ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ (RPL) program which is an initiative to acknowledge the work we do. I took part in this program as I wanted to understand the plumbing job from core to latest techniques of the job. I also learnt about maintaining a working knowledge of worksite safety protocols to avoid undesirable situations in the workplace.
By becoming aware of new, useful and refreshed skills from the program, I want to work on it to build my competence in this job and gradually advance as ‘Lead Plumber’. I am thankful to LabourNet for giving this opportunity and also for awarding the certificate.
